(TUBA CITY, Ariz.) The Gilbert Christian Girls Flag Football team continues to make headlines in its inaugural season, notching a 49-6 victory over Tuba City on the road last week. The commanding win extends the Knights' streak to three games (3-1 overall) and marks the highest point total in program history.

After two tightly contested 3-0 wins earlier this season, both sealed by clutch field goals from junior kicker Meredith Johnson, the Knights' offense found its rhythm in a big way, with six players contributing to the scoring effort.

Touchdowns came from across the roster, showcasing the team's depth and versatility as five different players crossed into the Warriors' endzone. Riley Bublitz, Alexa Enman, and Madelyn Willms each posted a score in the affair, while Mackenzie Henderson and Adriana Vranicic logged a pair apiece to secure bragging rights for GCHS.

Johnson, for her part, added to an already stellar resume, going a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points. The special teams ace now has two game-winning field goals to her name, while ranking seventh in the 3A Conference with a 26.1-yard punting average.

The Knights' junior quarterback, Alyssa Cervantez, efficiently led the offense, entering the game ranked sixth in 3A with 244 passing yards. Her ability to move on the ground and find her teammates under pressure have become a hallmark of Gilbert Christian's attack.

Freshman standout Alexa Enman remains one of the conference's most dynamic playmakers, coming into the week ranked second in 3A with 249 receiving yards and seventh in total yardage (334). Enman also holds the No. 2 (3A) spot in punt return average at 12.7 yards per return.

Sophomore Mackenzie Henderson continues to make her presence known on both ends of the field. In addition to her two touchdowns Tuesday, she ranks ninth conference-wide in total receiving yards, while excelling defensively at eighth overall (3A) with 13 tackles.

The Knights' defensive leader, sophomore Adriana Vranicic, remains a force, tallying 23 tackles through the squad's first three games to place her second among 3A players. Her effort and intensity set the tone for a defense that has held opponents to just six points in the last three games combined.

GCHS hits the road again tonight for a showdown against Highland Prep West. The match-up is slated to begin at 6:00pm. The Knights will return home after the fall break, on October 14th, to host unbeaten Valley Christian.
