(CASA GRANDE, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian swam in a tough meet on Thursday against two large programs, Casa Grande and Catalina Foothills. Both Knights' teams were competitive in the pool, putting significant points on the scoreboard, with the GCHS girls scoring 79 to claim second place.

Juniors Kyler Tolson and Kalia Numeron each logged first place victories at the meet, with Tolson obliterating the competition by 35 seconds in his signature event, the 500-Freestyle, and Numeron taking the 100-Butterfly crown in a photo-finish.

Several Knights' swimmers recorded season-bests in Casa Grande. Dropping her time by over 12 seconds in the 200-Free race, was junior Addison Goodwin. Another third-year athlete, Jacklyn Korb, continued her impressive run of five-consecutive PRs, cutting her time in the 100-Free to post points and add to the girls' final tally.

Senior Hannah Mae Caldwell demonstrated a team-first mentality for Gilbert Christian, stepping up to swim in one of the meet's most challenging events, the 100-Fly, where she was able to finish strong and score crucial points for the girls' squad.

GCHS swim is back in action on Tuesday, October 1st at Phoenix Country Day, where the Knights will take on PCD, Arcadia, and Chandler Prep in a four-way meet. Events are scheduled to start at 4:00pm.
