(GILBERT, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian boys' soccer took down rival ALA-Ironwood on Thursday evening at home, defeating the Warriors 3-0 via a trio of first half goals. Junior Brady Fredrickson led the effort, scoring a pair of unconventional and extraordinary goals for the Knights.

"ALA-Ironwood is a talented and well-coached team that is one of the best in the league, but tonight we came ready to play," Head Coach Devon Dickinson said. "After last year's loss to them, we had a score to settle. I am proud of our team. We played fast, we played physical, and we played to win."

Fredrickson put the Knights on the scoreboard at 29:49, shocking ALA-Ironwood with an unexpected shot from nearly 40 yards out that sailed up and over the Warriors' defense and goalie and into the net. Six minutes passed before he connected again, going hard and low on a set piece, and inexplicably managing to find the goal through a jam-packed box.

The final goal of the match belonged to senior Noah Cooper, who created a small opening on the right side, blasting a ball across the box and into the left corner past the Warriors' diving keeper.

Gilbert Christian's defense was strong in the affair, fending off ALA-Ironwood's advances, and keeping a clean sheet through 80 minutes of action. Junior Hyatt Lang started the match in goal, and made several notable stops in the first half, before senior Brody Moore closed the game strong to complete the shutout.

The Knights are unbeaten in 3A play, having also defeated Yuma Catholic 5-3 and Coolidge 12-1.
