(MESA, Ariz.) Varsity swim competed against Gilbert Classical Academy, Valley Christian and San Tan Charter on Tuesday at Brimhall Junior High School. The Gilbert Christian girls' team scored 168 points to come away with its third-straight victory, while the boys compiled 88 points and took third place. Junior Katie Hansen was the top-finisher for the GCHS girls with a pair first-place triumphs, in the 50-freestyle (28.79) and the 100-backstroke (1:09.77).

Sophomore Kyler Tolson was dominant on the boys' side, pulling off two wins of his own, in the 100-free (53.43) and the 100-back. His 59.04 time in the backstroke missed the Gilbert Christian school record in the event by the slimmest of margins, .03 of a second.

The Knights had seven individual event winners in the meet. Senior Ana Johnson got off to a hot start with her victory in the 500-free, setting a personal record with her speedy 6:24.48 race. Her classmate Kambry Tutty also excelled, posting a 1:24.80 to earn first in the 100-breaststroke. Sophomore Kalia Numeron was next, dominating as champion in 100-fly (1:09.75), and freshman Savanna Blevins continued her strong effort for the dive team with a conquest in the one-meter competition.

"These were great swims for a non-rested meet," Head Coach Melody Pinkerton said. "Our focus this week is on Saturday's invitational, where we hope to see even faster times."

The Knights are close to home this weekend, competing Friday and Saturday at the 10th Annual Higley Knights Spooktacular Invitational. The meet is held at the Williams Field High School Pool.
