9/10/2025 1:54:00 PM

(GILBERT, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian extended its winning streak to three games on Friday, rolling over ALA-Mesa North 35-6 in 3A football action. The victory, witnessed by nearly 2,500 Knight Nation fans, marks the program's best start since 2017.

From the opening snap, Gilbert Christian's offense clicked. Junior Kai Ahlman put on a show with 194 all-purpose yards, including 153 receiving yards on just six touches. Ahlman found the end zone twice in the contest, highlighted by an 86-yard first quarter touchdown grab that electrified the home crowd and opened the floodgates for the Knights.

Senior standout Kamari Stanbury added his own spark, showcasing elite speed and athleticism en route to 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Stanbury also delivered a highlight-reel interception on defense, further validating his knack for impacting play on both sides of the ball.

At quarterback, senior Caleb Ely was solid in the pocket, distributing the ball with ease and connecting in the clutch to finish the night with 244 passing yards and three touchdowns. His command of the offense kept the Knights balanced throughout the affair.

The Knights' hard-nosed defense prevented the Mavericks from finding a rhythm, as 23 different GCHS players recorded at least one tackle in the win. Junior Marcel Maro had quite the breakout game, making his presence known on the field with a pair of sacks, two tackles for loss, and a trio of total tackles.

Senior Hyatt Lang continued to incite fear in opposing offenses, garnering a game-high four tackles to bring his three-game 2025 total to 16. Lang also had a tackle for loss and a two-point conversion grab in the contest.

Gilbert Christian led 35-0 at the break.

With the victory, the Knights improve to 3-0. ALA-Mesa North's two game winning streak was snapped with the defeat, dropping the Mavericks to 2-1 overall.

The Knights now turn their attention to Seton Catholic, visiting GCHS this Friday (7:00pm) for the first regional showdown of the season. Another KNIGHT OUT is planned, with pregame festivities (food, vendors, bounce houses, and face painting) beginning at 6:00pm. Fans can purchase tickets through GoFan for $5. GCS students receive free entry to all home contests.
