GCHS Boys Dominant at ALA-Ironwood

4/17/2025 2:08:00 PM

(QUEEN CREEK, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian overtook ALA-Ironwood on the road Tuesday, sweeping the Warriors in straight sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-15) in regional boys' volleyball play. Senior Luke Myers was unstoppable in the affair, putting away 12 of his 15 attempts (.800), while racking up a team-high four blocks.

The Knights excelled defensively in the match, with sophomore Reed Mills and senior Talon Heafey combining for 30 of the squad's 49 digs. Senior Colin Berry was next in line, frustrating the Warriors' offense with eight of his own pickups.

Berry's versatility was on display throughout the rotation, as he showcased his offensive prowess with six putdowns on the opposite side and two service aces. He also recorded a pair of blocks at the net.

On the outside, junior Malachi Myers hit double digits for GCHS, finishing the night with 10 kills.

The Knights' offense was facilitated, per usual, by starting setter Bryce Kincaid, who logged 29 assists in the victory.

Heafey led all players with three aces.

With the win, the Knights improve to 6-5 overall.

Gilbert Christian is back on the court on Thursday at Valley Christian (6-2). The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.
