(TEMPE, Ariz.) The Gilbert Christian boys 4x400 relay (Kai Ahlman, Bennett Juve, Rydan Barth, Maccoy Villone) scorched the Valley Christian track on Saturday, breaking the Knights' school record (44.00) while finishing second overall at the 2025 Al Nelson Invitational. 
 
Ahlman, Barth and Juve also competed in the 4X400, adding junior Ben Rozier as the team's anchor, to place third (3:36.15) in the grueling sprint relay.
 
Rozier had additional success in the field events, earning seventh with a PR of 5-08 in the boy's high jump.
 
Freshman Josiah Licea excelled both on the field and on the track, besting his own GCHS record in the boy's javelin with a throw of 131'7" and setting a new personal best in the 400-meters (57.98).
 
On the girl's side, the 4x400 relay (Madelyn Willms, Addie Hansen, Lillie Duitsman, Addison Bisceglie) took the Al Nelson crown and the Knights' highest placement of the day (1st) following an impressive 4:15.93 performance in the finals. 
 
Willms, for her part, also ran the solo 400 meters, earning second for the Knights while recording a 1:02.64 PR.
 
Senior Kaila Aston was also among the meet's top-producers, throwing her way to second overall in the discus (91-06), and logging a PR in the javelin with a toss of 100-07 (4th). Joining Aston with a new PR in the javelin was sophomore Mila Herrejon-Ruiz, who took 10th with her 82-10 effort on the field. 
 
The distance races saw sophomore Kodi Bell register a PR (2:45.83) in the 800m final, and a top-10 finish in the 1600m, where she took seventh for the GCHS girls. 
 
On Tuesday, April 15th, the Knights are sending several athletes to the Top of the Mountain Invitational. The meet will be held at Red Mountain High School.

The GCHS track and field team has four remaining regular season meets on its schedule. The Cactus Shadows Quad is next on the docket, slated for 3:30pm on April 17th.
