(COOLIDGE, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian kept its unbeaten streak alive on Tuesday, defeating Coolidge in 3A East girls' soccer action. The Knights won the contest 6-0 behind freshman Mila Russo's hat-trick performance.

Senior Daniella Orellana was also on fire for GCHS, scoring a pair of goals, and dishing an assist in the affair. Orellana has posted five goals in the Knights' last two games to double her season total, at 10.

"Taking off my knee brace was a little nerve wracking at first," Orellana said. "I started by practicing without it and I began to feel my confidence get stronger as well as the pace of my game become quicker. Going into the last two games without it, I could tell a big difference in my play. I am more confident with the ball and definitely stronger both mentally and physically. It feels good to have hit a rhythm at this point in the season. We are constantly striving to move forward and progress, and we are focused on our ultimate goal of competing at state."

Leading the way in the assist column was junior Caprice Chiuchiolo who dished Orellana's first score, and Russo's second.

Freshman Madyn Allan put a point on the scoreboard in the contest, courtesy of a great ball from Orellana. She also set up Russo's final goal of the day.

Senior Jaidyn Wilson and junior Kinley Rhineheimer notched Gilbert Christian's remaining two assists in the win.

"This was a physical Coolidge team, but our girls overcame obstacles and were able to find each other and claim the victory," Head Coach Hector Orellana said. "Selah Hommel and the defense should be noted as well, as they came away with another with a clean sheet."

Gilbert Christian improves to 6-0 with the shutout.

The Knights will host Florence on Wednesday, January 10th for a 4:00pm regional match-up. The Gophers are also 6-0 on the season.
