(GILBERT, Ariz.) First-ranked Gilbert Christian put on a clinic Tuesday, trouncing the San Tan Foothills Sabercats 13-0 in girls' soccer action, to record its ninth-straight win of the season. Junior Caprice Chiuchiolo led the way, with a remarkable four goals and two assists in limited minutes of play.
The Knights mercy-ruled the Sabercats in the regional match-up.
GCHS spread the wealth in the contest, with seven different players scoring on the day. Freshman Mila Russo compiled a hat trick, while senior Jaidyn Wilson emerged to hit a pretty pair for the Knights. Freshman Madyn Allan, senior Daniella Orellana, freshman Riley Bublitz, and freshman Meredith Johnson all registered a goal in the victory.
Orellana's propensity to find her teammates open continued, as she dished two more on the day for GCHS. Russo, Wilson, Allan and Bublitz also tallied assists in the affair.
San Tan Foothills drops to 1-7 overall with the loss.
"This next coming game is going to be a good test of our strength and our skill as a team," Daniella Orellana said. "As a captain, I am looking forward to this challenge, that will help us in our preparation for playoffs."
Gilbert Christian will host 16th-ranked Veritas Prep (4-3) on Saturday, January 20 at noon. The Knights have just three regular season games remaining on the schedule.
