(TUCSON, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian football improved to 2-0 on Friday night, grinding out a 28-20 road win over a tough Sabino squad. Junior running back
Camden Gorsline was a workhorse in the affair, powering the offense with 146 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.
Senior quarterback
Caleb Ely gave the Knights balance through the air, going 10-for-17 with 149 yards and two touchdown passes. His composure kept the offense steady and allowed Gilbert Christian to capitalize on key drives.
Junior playmaker
Kai Ahlman found the end zone twice- once on a second-quarter rushing score, then again on a clutch 16-yard reception in the fourth. Ahlman's versatility showed on both sides of the ball, where he also tallied three tackles.
Senior
Hyatt Lang continued his two-way dominance, punching in a touchdown while racking up five solo tackles, two assists, two tackles for loss, and a pair of sacks. A consistent red-zone threat, Lang has now scored in each of the Knights' first two games.
The GCHS defense made life difficult for the Sabercats from start to finish. The Scott brothers were a force to be reckoned with, combining for 13 tackles- Pierson with eight and Evan with five- each logging one tackle for loss. Pierson led all players with seven solo stops.
Sophomore
Alijah Jarles continued to build on his breakout season, finishing with eight tackles (five solo) to bring his season total to 12.
Freshman
