4/2/2025 6:02:00 PM

(COOLIDGE, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian boys tennis notched its first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Coolidge in dominant fashion by a final tally of 9-0.

The Knights zeroed the Bears in every match-up, securing four 6-0, 6-0 victories in the singles pairings, and two 8-0 shutouts in doubles competition. Coolidge forfeited the remaining three points to GCHS after failing to field a full team.

"Our players were out on the courts, in full force, battling 30mph wind gusts and still managed to be successful in all of their matches dispute the conditions," Head Coach Adam Ford said. "In the doubles matches, I thought that our guys looked strong at the net placing their volleys and landing their overheads."

Senior Mason Berkshire (No. 1), freshman Landon Dunn (No. 2), senior JP Russo (No. 3), and Brady Albert (No. 4) earned the Knights' singles points on the day, with the Berkshire/Dunn and Russo/Albert duos collecting bragging rights as the doubles' champions.

Gilbert Christian is back in action on Thursday at Gilbert Classical (Mesquite Junior High) for a sectional showdown with the Spartans.
