(GILBERT, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian (11-3) capped a great week of baseball with a 17-3 rout of San Tan Foothills (1-9) at home on Thursday night. The fourth-ranked Knights went 3-0 between April 14th and April 17th, with a pair of victories over top-5 competitors Northwest Christian (#3, 11-2 overall) and Seton Catholic (#5, 11-5 overall).
Three different Knights hit bases-loaded homeruns during the stint. Senior
Sam Webb managed the exceptional feat on Wednesday to give GCHS the come-from-behind win over Seton Catholic, and senior
Tyler Burr and freshman
Camden Pallas cranked their respective grand slams over the fence in front of an elated home crowd versus the Sabercats.
Thursday's dominant outing was a sight to see, as Gilbert Christian recorded 17 runs off of nine hits. Burr was a machine in the affair, going 3 for 3 with a grand slam, a quadruple, a double, 7 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. He also closed the contest on the mound, mowing down three-straight to send San Tan Foothills home.
Pallas went 2 for 3 in the game, with the first dinger of his high school career- a bases-loaded shot. He accrued 5 RBI, 2 R, and a stolen base for the Knights.
Sophomore
Jackson LaRoche started on the mound and threw three innings while striking out six STF batters to pick up the win. He is currently unbeaten, at 4-0.
Wednesday's battle was a different story, as Gilbert Christian found itself trailing early on the road against the Sentinels.
Down 2-1 in the top of the fifth, the Knights' bats began to heat up, as
Logan King, Pallas, and
Brody Aubut each singled to load the bases for Webb. Webb watched three pitches, two balls and a strike, before it clicked. Click, click, BOOMED, that is, as he gave the baseball a flying lesson, straight over the left field fence.
Aubut, the game's starter, went the distance, shutting out Seton Catholic in the next two innings to secure the victory. Aubut finished the day with 6 K, 5 H, 2 R, and 3 BB.
Webb and King tallied a pair of hits apiece in the contest. Pallas,
Dane Coyle, Aubut, and Burr recorded the remainder of the Knights' base knocks.
Gilbert Christian has two more games on its regular season schedule, on the road against Payson (April 23rd, 6:00pm), and at home versus ALA-Ironwood (April 28th, 6:30pm, Senior Day).
