(PHOENIX) Gilbert Christian boys basketball hit the road Tuesday night and delivered one of its most balanced efforts of the season, defeating Bourgade Catholic 63-56 in regional play.
With the win, the Knights even their record at 2-2 overall.
Freshman
Hudson Noll had a breakout game for GCHS, dropping 9 points via a perfect 4-of-4 shooting effort. Noll splashed a three and grabbed five rebounds in the affair.
Fellow first year
Trey Cicerelli continued his strong start to the season, knocking down a trio from deep on his way to 11 points.
Sophomore guard
Colin Burke delivered another top-notch performance, posting a team-high 16 points, while adding 5 rebounds 4 assists and a pair of steals. Burke's energy, and ability to score in the clutch has already proven a to be a difference-maker for Gilbert Christian this year.
Senior leadership showed up in a big way in Tuesday's victory, with
Taylor Abrahamson dropping 15 in 30 minutes on the floor. Senior
Ben Rozier brought the hustle, battling down low to add 6 points and 3 boards for the Knights.
On the defensive end, senior
Kamari Stanbury anchored the Knights' pressure, stacking up a game-best 4 steals while disrupting Bourgade's rhythm all night.
The victory sends Gilbert Christian into the new year with plenty of momentum and opportunity for growth. The Knights are scheduled to return to action in January in the Nike Tournament of Champions (1/1-1/3).
