(GILBERT, Ariz.) Senior Kaila Aston scored 17 points in 16 minutes on Friday, propelling Gilbert Christian past Northwest Christian 47-22 in 3A Metro girls' basketball action. With the win, the Knights move to 4-4 on the season, and remain unbeaten in regional play at 4-0.
The GCHS defense, which held the Crusaders 20 points below their team scoring average (42.3), forced 19 turnovers in the contest.
Junior Tylee Fox's effort on both ends of the floor lent to the Knights' success, as she showcased her versatility with 13 points, six deflections, five rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block in 24 minutes of floor time.
Sophomore Addie Hansen also made the most of her opportunities against the Crusaders, connecting on four-of-six field goal attempts to finish with 10 points and five rebounds. She kept play alive on multiple occasions, grabbing three off the offensive glass, while consistently opening up the inside for Aston by serving as a threat at the high post and on the wing.
With six assists, sophomore Lillie Duitsman took the crown for setting up her teammates in the win. Duitsman's three blocks were tops in the affair, though senior Karissa Bailie managed a pair of her own in 12 minutes on the court. Bailie also battled for a pair of offensive rebounds in her stint, and finished with three boards for the Knights.

Gilbert Christian looks to extend its regional winning-streak on Wednesday, as it travels to San Tan Foothills (4-3) for a match-up with the Sabercats. The game is scheduled for a 7:00pm start.
