(GILBERT, Ariz.) Benjamin Franklin (1-2) was no match for Gilbert Christian as junior Cal Poly-commit Sienna Cathey erupted for 12 kills, 5 aces, and 11 digs in the Knights' emphatic 25-9, 25-13, 25-21 sweep Monday night.
 
The victory pushed the Knights to 3-1 overall, and 2-0 in 3A Metro Region play.
 
Junior Lillie Duitsman was equally electric in the affair, hammering 12 kills, amassing 12 digs, and dropping an ace, while converting 50 percent of her swings. Senior Alexia Heyn also hit double digits- powering home 10 kills, and picking up five digs of her own. Junior pin Ashley Gast and sophomore middle Ashlyn Kirby added to the balanced frontline assault against the Chargers, chipping in five and four putdowns in the match-up.
 
Defensively, sophomore libero Shay Loth patrolled the back row, compiling a team-high 13 digs, while dishing six assists. Setters Sidney Loth and Kendall Moore orchestrated the offense with 24 and 14 assists, respectively. Sidney also notched seven digs, showcasing her versatility as a distributor and a defensive anchor.
 
This Thursday the Knights will host Seton Catholic (2-1) for a KNIGHT OUT and Middle School Appreciation Night- an evening to pack the stands, and welcome the volleyball teams from the Agritopia, Greenfield, and Val Vista campuses. Freshman action begins at 4:00pm, followed by JV at 5:00pm, and concluding with the varsity showdown at 6:00pm.
