(GILBERT, Ariz.) Freshman Shay Loth put on a defensive clinic on Thursday against Valley Christian, fearlessly logging a match-high 17 digs against the Trojans. The Knights started strong and competed throughout the three-set battle but ultimately fell 24-26, 18-25, 23-25.
The Loth duo had a great outing for Gilbert Christian, with junior Sidney Loth recording 13 digs, 12 assists and two aces in the match.

Offensively, the Knights got production from all around. Sophomore Sienna Cathey snagged the top-spot with her eight kills, though junior Alexia Heyn managed to putdown seven the affair. Not far off were sophomore Lillie Duitsman and senior Kaila Aston, with six and five kills, respectively. Aston led the Knights percentage-wise, hitting .417 in the middle.
With the loss, Gilbert Christian moves to 1-1 on the season.
The Knights look to bounce back on Monday, September 9th on the road against Benjamin Franklin (6:00pm). GCHS has a busy week of play ahead, with additional matches on Wednesday (home against ALA-Ironwood) and Thursday (at Seton Catholic Prep).
