(PAYSON, Ariz.) Gilbert Christian volleyball made quick work of Payson on the road Monday, taking down the Longhorns 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 in 3A Metro action. The Knights' service game was virtually unstoppable, as the team combined for 13 aces in the sweep.
Sophomore Sienna Cathey put together an impressive stat-line in the affair, tallying five aces, 10 kills, 13 digs, and a solo block in the win.
The match-leader in put-downs was sophomore Lillie Duitsman, whose hot arm logged 14 kills for the Knights. Duitsman also managed four of the team's aces, and nine digs on the back-line.
Junior Alexia Heyn was a force at the net, putting away 12 of her 18 attempts, to lead the squad with a .556 hitting percentage. Her defensive presence was also notable, as she tallied two solo blocks for GCHS.
Making her teammates' impressive kill totals possible was junior setter Sidney Loth, who dished out 30 assists for the Knights.
Gilbert Christian has one regular season contest remaining on the 2024 schedule. The regional match-up is slated for Wednesday, October 30th at ALA-Ironwood (6:00pm).
