(GILBERT, Ariz.) Junior setter Sidney Loth's match-leading 36 assists were evenly distributed between the Knights' dangerous frontline attackers on Monday, as sophomore Sienna Cathey racked up 14 kills, while sophomore Lillie Duitsman and junior Alexia Heyn compiled 11 and 9, respectively, against regional opponent Payson.
Gilbert Christian swept the Longhorns 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-14).
Duitsman aided the Knights' cause defensively with her nine digs, second only to Gilbert Christian's libero, freshman sensation Shay Loth, who logged 13 to lead all players.
Though senior Kaila Aston put up a virtual wall at the net with her game-high six blocks, the highlight of the match (perhaps the year, measuring by her team's elation) was a solo block from five-foot-four Sidney Loth on the outside. Loth managed two for GCHS in the contest.

Last week, the Knights took down league-leader Northwest Christian 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-15), to hand the Crusaders their first loss in regional play.
Aston logged four aces, four digs, two kills and a whopping five blocks in the affair. Classmate Kaedra Lloyd got in on the block party, recording four stuffs of her own for the Knights.
Cathey and Heyn hit double-digits again in the kill column, with 12 and 10, and Duitsman managed eight putdowns on the right side for GCHS.
Sidney and Shay Loth were stars in their respective positions, with Sidney distributing 25 assists, and Shay tallying 10 digs on the back line.
Gilbert Christian is back in action on Thursday, when it will host San Tan Foothills for senior night. The contest marks the final home game of the regular season. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm following the junior varsity competition and the senior ceremony.
