(FLORENCE, Ariz.) Four sets propelled Knights' volleyball past Florence on Monday, as Gilbert Christian picked up its seventh win of year. Junior Emma Caraveo led the charge, running the offense effectively with 29 assists, while stepping up defensively to record a team-best 26 digs.

GCHS controlled the first two sets of the match 25-15 and 25-15, before falling in the third 19-25. Up 2-1 in the fourth, the Knights laid it all on the line to claim the road victory with a 25-11 rout.

"Kaedra Lloyd was great in this match, I think she played her best game of the season," Head Coach Alyssa Misuraca said. "She not only took charge at the net, but also got involved in multiple chaos balls, repeatedly keeping plays alive for her teammates to put over."

Lloyd boasted a squad-leading .267 hitting percentage in the affair, followed closely by freshman phenom Lillie Duitsman at .262. Duitsman also fronted the Knights' attack, with 14 kills to top all players.

Sophomore Addie Steil continued to shine for GCHS, tallying a pair of aces to tie junior Michelle Lopez for the serving crown. Steil also managed 17 digs in the contest.

"This team was super scrappy, and the girls worked hard to win, one play at a time," Misuraca said. "Emma moved the ball around on offense to give our hitters the best chance at scoring, which really helps when you're involved in a lot of long rallies. When we are gritty and aggressive, we are at our best."

The Knights take a 10-day break from competition and will return to action on Thursday, October 12th at ALA Anthem South. The match is scheduled for 6:00pm.
